Minky plush fabric is a synthetic, hypo-allergenic fabric made from 100% polyester fibers. While quality differs between brands, all Minky fabric is a knit fabric, which gives it an ultra-soft feel while maintaining durability. The majority of Minky fabric on the market is one-sided, meaning the plusher, fur-like texture is only on the top side. It’s also available in a range of weights and pile heights, which gives you the ability to pick the right fabric for the right project.

Fleece fabric is a soft and suede wool fabric woven with carded wool yarn, made from 100% polyester too, which is usually raised on both sides. The fleece has a layer of plump and clean fluff covering, no texture, soft and flat touch, a little thinner than Minky plush fabric. The surface is covered with a plump and clean fluff, no texture, the hand feels soft and flat. After milling and raising, the hand feel is plump and the suede is fine.

Minky Fabric Colors and Textures

Fleece fabric is often used to make winter blankets, pajamas, toys, etc., usually in plain colors, such as gray, blue, beige, and brown, which are not very bright colors. Care Instructions

Since Minky and fleece fabrics are 100% polyester, they won’t shrink or fade when run through the wash. Both require the same care instructions — wash on gentle with cool water in the washing machine (make sure laundry detergent doesn’t contain bleach), then remove and throw in the dryer on low heat.

Dry on low heat for about 10 minutes, then pull the fabric out to hang dry. Be careful not to overdry either type of fabric, as fleece will start to pill and you might lose the texture embossed on the Minky fabric.
